Have you ever been 6 months into a project and realized that you just don't feel good about the product you've built? We've been there and we can help. With 20+ years of combined experience building successful products, Geminder can provide expert review of something you've already built, or help you envision and spec out your finished product before the first line of code is written.
We'll evaluate your current site, your company's goals, your strategy, and your brand. We'll look at your competitors and identify the best practices within your business. Then we'll work with you and your teams to conduct research and testing — developing personas and use cases — so that you come away with a complete understanding of your users. We'll make sure you know what motivates them, what converts them, and what turns them away.
How do your users and customers experience and interact with your site? What's the most efficient way for them to accomplish their goals? We design Web sites and tools that make it easy for your users to understand where they are, what they're doing, and where they should go next. We produce work through an iterative development process that includes clean and simple flows, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes, and designs. The finished product makes sense for you, your users, and your business. We then follow up to conduct additional user testing to confirm that the expected user behavior is the actual user behavior.
We can work with you and your in-house teams to implement designs, or, if you don't have in-house resources available, we can build the site for you. We provide assets (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript) based on Web standards, and can also provide style guides, user experience specifications, content, and copy.
We've had the privilege of working with a variety of clients on a wide range of projects — International e-commerce sites, popular social networking applications, and small businesses with innovative ideas. Geminder is based in San Jose, California, but we work with clients across the country. Some of the companies we've worked with and projects we've been involved in include:
Katie was first introduced to the wonders of the Web (including PINE, Gopher, the tag) as a student at UC Davis in the mid 90s. On a lark, she moved to Seattle in 1996, working to produce and publish print and web content for clients including Microsoft, Intel, and Expedia.
In the spring of 1999, Katie joined Amazon as the managing editor of the e-Cards business, and quickly fell head over heels for the get big fast, it's always day one, work hard and have fun mentality of the online retailer. At Amazon, she led large cross-functional and customer experience initiatives including the Amazon.com Kitchen Store, re-launch of Tab Navigation, Target.com, and the Amazon Services e-Commerce platform.
In 2005 Katie returned to California to work on the Apple Online Store team as a Sr. Manager focused on content and customer experience, collaborating with engineering, marketing, and design teams to improve online shopping for Macs and iPods. Katie joined Facebook in early 2006 and led the product management, design and user experience teams. She played an integral part in launching the News Feed and Mini Feed products, making Facebook available to all users (beyond college and high school), opening up the Facebook Platform to application developers, and the Facebook redesign.
In August of 2008 she set out on building a design and consulting business with her co-founder, designer, and husband.

Michael has been working as a designer since 1992. He started his career creating textile designs for Joe Boxer, Target, and Esprit. His work with textiles expanded into print-based design (direct mail, business collateral, catalogs, ad work). He was introduced to Web design in Seattle during the mid-90s. In Seattle Michael worked building sites and designing user interfaces for Classmates.com, The Cobalt Group, and Amazon.com where he was part of the Seller Central team focused on the merchant-facing tool-sets used by Target, Pro-Merchants, and Fulfillment by Amazon customers.
In 2005 Michael moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area to work as a user experience designer for the Apple Online Store, helping to streamline the store's checkout flow, redesigning the Configure Your Mac process, and working on the Apple Online Store redesign.
Michael is currently working for Amazon's Web Services team as a user experience designer based in Palo Alto, CA. He is designing the user interface and functionality for a variety of web-based applications and toolsets used by AWS customers. He recently helped to design, build, and launch the (now defunct) UnSpun Facebook application.
